Wednesday, February 24, HOPE worldwide kicked off “Campus Connection” with a conference call for campus and teen representatives from all over the United States.
The call was extremely successful as over twenty participants called in to learn how they can better follow Jesus’ example in reaching the needy. Campus Connection was created as a way for HOPE worldwide to reach out to the campus and teen ministries, hear how they are already serving, and inspire and equip more youth to serve! The call started with Ross Woods, National Field Supervisor, asking “What is your ministry know for?” He challenged us all to be known for the same things Jesus was known for, preaching and healing (Matthew 9:35). Participants shared what their ministries were currently doing in their communities and their vision for future service. Elizabeth Johnson, University of Florida, shared about her campus ministry preparing food for a battered women’s home and their dream to start a weekly Saturday Academy. HOPE worldwide Cincinnati is paving the way for youth-led service by starting a local “HOPE worldwide Youth Connection” group who will organize and lead service projects in their city this year. Following the call, Jon Armstrong wrote “[Campus Connection] honestly rekindled a fire in me to serve the poor, and I'm really excited about what I and my ministry can do to live out the Bible here in the Charlottesville community.”
Many others share this vision and excitement to serve in their cities. HOPE worldwide is ready to equip all teen and campus ministries to take action! Here are a few exciting opportunities to serve in your community.
